Privacy Policy

Dayleaf ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the Dayleaf app handles and how.

Your journal stays yours

Journal entries, photos, videos and voice notes are stored locally on your device. They are never sent to us.
iCloud backup (optional) copies your journal to your own iCloud Drive, protected by your Apple account. We cannot read it.
Server backup (optional, requires an account) encrypts and stores your entries on our servers solely so you can restore them. We do not read, analyze, or share journal content.
Day One import is processed entirely on your device. Your imported archive is never uploaded anywhere by Dayleaf.

The world map ("The World Is Leafing")

Dayleaf can show a globe of anonymous activity. When you save an entry (and only if sharing is enabled — you can turn it off on the globe screen), the app sends a bare "someone wrote" signal with no content, no account, and no location from your device. Our server derives an approximate city-level point from the network request, blurs it by roughly 30 km, stores only that point and a timestamp, and discards the network address. Points expire after 14 days. Nothing on the globe can identify you.

Purchases

Dayleaf Pro is sold through Apple as a one-time purchase or an optional auto-renewable subscription. Payments are processed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. Subscriptions renew until canceled in your device Settings. Terms of Use (EULA).

Information you provide

Account information: if you create an account (including Sign in with Apple), we store your email address to identify your backups.

Information collected automatically

We use Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service, to collect anonymous usage data that helps us improve the app:

Device type and OS version
Which features are used (never the content inside them)
Anonymous identifiers and app performance data

Analytics never include the content of your journal entries, photos, or any media.

How we use information

To provide the app's functionality, including optional backup and restore
To improve Dayleaf based on anonymous usage patterns
To provide customer support

What we never do

We never sell your data.
We never show ads or share data with advertisers.
We never lock your journal in — you can export your entries at any time.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and server backups at any time from Settings inside the app. Local data is removed when you delete the app; iCloud backups can be removed from your iCloud Drive.

Children's privacy

Dayleaf is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
